Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school was established in 1928 and has been serving a small community for many generations. It is my 24th year teaching, and I had an awesome experience of teaching my former student's daughter in my class a few years ago. My current aide is also my former kindergarten student.

My school is a Title I school, where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.

Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English Language Learners, speaking English as their second language.

It's exciting to teach students who are able to do so much on their own - collaborating, researching and working independently to be innovators!

My Project

It’s a challenge doing remote learning and teaching during this unprecedented time of pandemic. Teachers had to learn to use all the features of zoom and figure things out quickly. One of the things that is very helpful is having a 2nd computer monitor connected to my laptop. I already had to invest in a good computer to use during distance learning, and I just got an old monitor added to be able to see all my students while I’m screen sharing my lessons. The old monitor is not easy to manipulate, trying to drag the student windows there, and the screen quality is not very clear to see their work.

It would be very helpful to have a touchscreen monitor for better class zoom experience.

When students show their work on their camera, it would easier to see their work using a better screen. With the touchscreen feature, I would be able to quickly admit them into the zoom and assign them into breakout rooms. When we go back to regular in-school learning, I will be able to use this monitor as one of the main computer screens to share the lessons and students will be able to take turns sharing their work.

Please consider supporting this project during this unusual learning time. Thank you so much!
