Touching Lives Through Literature

My students need 30 copies of "Touching Spirit Bear" to read in class, the audio cd, and the teacher guide as we explore literature together.

My Students

Do you remember being in Junior High and dealing with bullies? My students deal with this everyday. They either face the pressure of being bullied or the pressure to be a bully. Literature can help my students understand that bullies can change and those who are bullied can stand up for themselves.

Our school is a rural school that has many amazing students but they face many challenges.

The majority are from low economic backgrounds and a great number of them qualify for free lunch. Many of them do not have the resources at home to purchase items needed to enhance their education.

My Project

With the "Touching Spirit Bear" books and the teacher guide, we will read together in class and do projects along with the book. This will enhance their vocabulary, their reading skills and their comprehension. The story itself will teach them to stand up if they are being bullied, how to change if they are being a bully and how to face their fears. My students will grow as individuals and will always remember this story that they explored at this critical time in their lives.
