The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered the dynamics of education, prompting a swift transition to online and hybrid learning models. While these approaches have enabled continuity in education, they have also posed challenges to the effectiveness of traditional sensory materials. The absence of physical classroom interactions and hands-on activities has diminished the impact of tactile and interactive learning experiences.
The materials I have requested will cater to diverse learning styles and contribute to a more interactive and immersive learning experience.
Sensory toys can provide significant benefits for students with special needs by addressing their unique sensory processing challenges and promoting overall development.
These materials will benefit my students by giving them opportunities and exposure to various senses around them. The rolling carts and drawers will also build their social-emotional learning as they are learning to organize. These can significantly enhance social-emotional learning by fostering self-awareness, self-regulation, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, social awareness, goal setting, adaptability, stress management, and a positive mindset. These skills are essential for navigating personal and social challenges and building strong, healthy relationships.
