Help me give my students an Early Language Activity Box - Complete Set and What’s Inside? Soft Feely Box to learn early language skills and for achieving pre literacy and literacy skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every Child Belongs:
My preschoolers come with a variety of experiences, strengths, and challenges.
They all come in with various communication needs like, they may struggle to follow routines, say their needs, little or no exposure to books and peer group. Others will arrive having a lot of experience with books and language, and some may be dual language learners. They might have disabilities or developmental delays that impact their learning, social skills, and/or behavior.
Little angels with innocence and joy are so much fun to work with. I see them individually or in small groups in their classroom. They keep me constantly busy in making their speech activities fun and creative. They love different games and surprises. It takes in lot of time, materials, thinking for prepping the activities for these students. They is always need of materials and activities.
My Project
The therapy materials help the children to first learn through touching and exploring with their hands. My preschoolers begin the abstraction process, matching the objects to picture cards. Children love to work on the activities that they can accomplish like naming the objects when they pull out from the box, comparing the objects, matching the objects, sorting them into categories. The materials can be used for multiple purposes with different strategies.
When my preschoolers are manipulating materials with their hands, they also make use of their motoric memory, which enriches the learning process.
And it can be much more interesting and valuable to make discoveries for yourself than to be simply told what you need to know. The products that I selected will help my students touch, feel, explore, learn and share the materials, understand the concepts with a fun hands on learning experience.
Actions speak louder than words with young children. So it is often easier to show a preschooler, than explain; often easier to work alongside, than give instructions from afar; and more fun to explore the world together. My students will thrive with hands on activity and exploring objects.
