My Students
There are many ways to learn. I feel the best way for fourth graders is through experiencing it in a hands-on way! Ipod Touches are useful tools in all curriculum areas. With the many apps out there, the things a student can do with an iPod Touch are limitless!
The students at my school are very low socio-economic and have a very high mobility rate.
They are sometimes hard to motivate, but they LOVE technology and hands-on learning. They can sit for hours playing with apps on the iPod Touches or programs on the computers. They don't get a lot of outside experiences so it is imperative we give them every opportunity at school possible.
My Project
Our school district gave iPod Touches to our school. I took mine home to update and my car was broken into, and they were stolen. It was a hard lesson for the students to learn. I want them to have the opportunity to use iPod Touches again. Ipod Touches are great for so many things. They can enhance curriculum with videos from Brainpop or YouTube. Also, the iPod Touches can be used as recording devices so the students can record themselves reading and then play it back to hear. Also, the iPod Touches get the students excited about learning. They can be playing an educational game for a long time and have no clue that they are busy learning! They are also great for reading on as well!
When the iPod Touches were stolen from my car, the students were astonished that someone would take something from another person.
It was a great life lesson. However, the real tragedy is that the students no longer have them to help enrich and engage them in the curriculum. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated for many years to come!
