This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach amazing, energetic, creative students with exceptional needs. My current students are 3-4-year-old preschoolers. Some students in my classroom have learning disabilities ranging from severe (need most support) to mild (need minimal support) which affect their ability to access and use an age-appropriate curriculum. Despite all their challenges my students enjoy learning and sharing with each other. Our school is a Title I school with high poverty and 85% English Language Learners.
My Project
This project is designed to give my student the opportunity to continue to develop their visual and fine motor skills, by exploring the use of sensory toys. These items will increase my students opportunity to develop both their visual and fine motor skills through play.
Learning through play is what preschool is all about.
This is very important for students with exceptional needs because this is how they learn about the world around.
Success for student in preschool is measured by their ability to play well with others using a variety of toys and games. These sensory toys will bring more opportunities for them to develop these important skill.
