My Project

I have a classroom of 21 students with needs that vary greatly. I have experienced students 2-grade levels above and 2-grade levels below their peers. I am working on professional advancement in the field of special education. Through my studies, I have repeatedly taken in the information that supports the benefits of reaching students through technology.

Technology allows students of all abilities to access the curriculum and receive assistance they may otherwise never receive.

Students are included and helped to catch up or advance. I can use applications that assist with handwriting, phonics, fluency, decoding, and encoding. I can have students use math manipulative applications to participate in whole-group math. I can allow more advanced students to build on in-class assignments, take virtual field trips, research, and even design.

As an educator, I would love to say every student always gets exactly what they need, but they do not, and the only way we will make it to a world where we can reach students is through technology. Technology helps level the playing field for students of all abilities.
