My Students
I teach in a high poverty school that was just hit by the March 25th tornado. My students are overcomers. Many obstacles could hold them back, but they persevere!
We have 70% of our students on the free or reduced lunch program at Southgate Elementary. Our kids have parents who work a lot to make ends meet. My students struggle at times because home life can be tough. My students want to have a bright future and work hard at achieving it.
My Project
Students will use the materials requested to maintain normalcy in their classroom. Many of the items requested are needed to house materials students will use every day. With our school going through this tragedy, my students are not able to go to the library, so I am trying to put a library together that will put books in their hands.
These donations will also make a huge impact on my students. My students will learn essential organizational skills needed for their entire lives. If they can learn now to keep their materials ordered and organized, it will better their future in the job market and maintaining a home.
