Help me give my students today's top book recommendations from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), so we can read dozens of books this year!

My Project
I teach a wonderfully diverse group of mostly ninth-grade students. Many will be the first in their family to attend college, and I'm so excited to help them towards that dream. At the start of the school year, I challenged my English as a Second Language (ESL) students to read 30 books independently, and I challenged my Honors students to read 40 books. Most of the students are making great progress towards this goal, and I want to give them amazing books to help them keep up their momentum! All of these books are recent publications recommended by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), and they come from recent lists for Top 10 Graphic Novels, Top 10 Fiction Novels, and Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners.
We quietly read self-selected novels every day in my classroom, and these novels will be great "book hooks" to help the students maintain their momentum towards our awesome reading goals!
The donated books will become a permanent part of our classroom library for students to read in class or to check out and read at home. Helping to build strong readers each year is the most rewarding part of my work as a teacher. Thank you for helping to make this happen!
