What I absolutely love about my students is their drive to grow inside and outside of the classroom along with each and everyone of their unique personalities. They are highly motivated, engaging daily in a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in one of the top STEM schools in the United States.
Our high school students aim to succeed and look to graduate as well-rounded, sound young people.
With 99% of every senior class matriculating to four-year programs, our students are the reason our school is successful. They compete at the international level in math, science, and technology competitions. Some go on to Ivy League schools where they hope to master business and economics. Some go into public service and have goals of coming back to the school to teach students just like themselves one day. They make the school what it is by coming to school every day ready to learn, grow, and develop their passions.
My students are inspiring, funny, genuine, and highly motivated individuals who wish to continue engaging in different processes every day via technology. Having access to two iPads will allow them even more access to student services throughout the school day!
My Project
In high schools, it is very easy for students who need help and services to avoid reaching out to their school counselor, a person who is there to provide advice and help throughout the years. Having iPads will allow the school counselors to be mobile with a stronger presence amongst students, helping students with college counseling at their lunch table, or look up and discuss courses for the next school year in their study hall.
When students come in to see their counselor, they will be able to log in to applications for different programs already in use, such as Naviance and Schoology.
Not all students have smart phones or internet access at home; this will allow more access to students who may not have internet or devices in their homes.
My students are some of the brightest and most highly motivated students I have ever encountered. Allowing us the opportunity to "meet them where they are" will open the door even further and allow us to continue to "connect their passion with purpose."
