I am a visual arts teacher at a wonderful school that has become a kindergarten through second-grade school. My students are sweet, curious, and challenging at times, but there's no place I'd rather be than with my art classes.
My students love to "give back," and we do many community and global projects throughout the year to teach acceptance and kindness, such as blankets for animals at the Humane Society, The Memory Project, and participating in Peace Day.
I have taught art classes for 16 years; nine years at this school. I love every minute of it. Our staff is nurturing, highly qualified, and we care deeply about our students.
My Project
My amazing students work extremely hard in the art room as a daily practice but love when they are rewarded with a trip to the Treasure Box.
Filled with toys, school supplies and candy snacks, the Treasure Box is a great incentive for k-3 students to do their best!
We are requesting candy only, because that is what we are out of. As this year draws to a close, we are showing off our work with a huge Art Showcase this month. Over 750 projects will be showcased plus group projects, painted furniture and a MakerSpace display. This is my first attempt and I have needed much cooperation from students with completing art, hanging work, labeling, plus banners, posters, raffles and large displays. The students have been so helpful, the parents even more supportive. Each day they have reached the top with wonderful behavior, great assistance and beautiful work. Needless to say, the Treasure box is opened many times during the day and we are depleted.
Please help me fill it one more time before the end of the year. We greatly appreciate your support.
