This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and bright learners who are filled with questions about the world they have not yet had the chance to experience. These students attend a school where 97% of the families are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Many of the students come from families where either one or both of their parents are employed as farm workers.

I teach a special education class and these students deserve to feel joy about their new and exciting school materials.

Our school is located in low-income community in California and many students haven't had the opportunity to see the beauty this world has to offer. Which is why I ask to please consider donating to our 5th-6th grade classroom this year and we thank you ahead of time for your donation!

My Project

These materials will be an inspirational way to get my students engaged in reading while also nourishing their imagination. I am striving to create a print-rich classroom that captures the interests of all of my students and this Toon collection will definitely intrigue their curiosity. My students will be able to borrow these amazing books and share them with their friends or family at home which will broaden the number of individuals these books may impact. This category of books are intended to capture the interests of those students who may struggle to find a genre of books to relate, this could potentially decrease their interest in reading altogether if not addressed. My intentions are to bring a variety of books available for all of my students in order to encourage their growth in reading and overall academic achievement.
