My students need to read, read, read! And they can do that by "toon"ing into the genre of comics. The comics are visually and intellectually stimulating.

My Students
Read to succeed is our mission possible, and the only way to make it possible is to get more books into the hands of our students. Help them "toon" into a good book!
I have a class of 18, eager to read, students.
Our school is a Title I school and all my students are on free or reduced lunch. The students in my class have limited access to resources. Most of them have not been outside of their neighborhood. These students see violence and gang-related activities as a part of their daily lives. My students do not get the opportunities to experience the magic of reading outside of the school setting, which is why it is most important for me to give them as many opportunities as possible.
My Project
I am requesting several Toon into Comic books to provide my students the opportunity to experience the love of reading. This will allow my students to participate in a non-traditional genre that will motivate them to be better readers. Talking and reading about books brings about great discussions! My students love to share what they have learned and make connections, whether academic or personal. This will be possible with these materials and will promote reading in my classroom!
