My Project
My 10th and 11th grade students are bright, curious, and full of potential. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and they represent the full spectrum of learners, with individual needs and goals. What they all have in common is that they deserve a classroom that feels like it belongs to them. I’m asking for your help to create a learning environment that is not only functional, but also inspiring, calming, and inclusive.
These tools will help transform our room from a basic classroom into a place where students feel safe, valued, and welcome every single day.
When students feel comfortable in their environment—when the classroom feels more like a home base than a holding space—they are more open to engaging with challenging material and taking academic risks. A thoughtfully designed space supports focus, reduces anxiety, and fosters a sense of community and belonging. Beyond physical comfort of a rug and LED lighting, the materials I’m requesting—annotation tools, a speaker, poster markers and supplies for anchor charts, and materials to help students organize their binders and create their own textbooks—will help them interact more meaningfully with their learning. These tools allow for deeper reading, critical thinking, visual reinforcement, and creative expression. With your support, I can provide a space and tools that show my students they matter, their learning matters, and their ideas deserve to be seen and celebrated.
