Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of third graders that attend a Title I school in a growing Texas school district.
They are made up from a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced-price lunches.
While they come from various backgrounds, with various needs, they enjoy engaging and interacting with one another in their learning. Most importantly, my students love coming to school, learning, and being in the third grade.
My Project
My students are looking for mini whiteboards and write and wipe pockets to practice our learning. These mini whiteboards will be used daily as students come to the classroom carpet to practice grammar, spelling and writing lessons. Having this simple tool allows my students to sit together on the carpet and work alongside the teacher instead of in isolation at their seats on important concepts. We are also in need of write and wipe pockets. These will allow my students to read articles, take notes, and underline important facts while delving into their reading.
These simple resources will make a huge impact on my students' learning as we dig deep into reading and writing this year.
