My Project

District funding of our program covers supplies only. In order to pay for other things needed to run a successful program, beyond our district budget, we create projects to help our students develop work skills. One of those projects has been our school garden and greenhouse. We are looking forward to using a greenhouse and outdoor garden area to produce a variety of vegetables, flowers and gifts for use in our nutrition program as well as sales to our local community. Students will increase their knowledge of healthy food selections, vocational options and volunteer opportunities.

Our garden is in need of a refresh, including new raised beds, a new lawnmower, and bags of potting soil so students can continue the upkeep of our garden areas.

Students are the caretakers for the community garden, and they need updated tools to do that. They will replace the old raised beds with new ones, use the potting soil for planting projects, and the lawnmower to maintain the grassy areas. Please join the Community Transition Program community in providing this opportunity to our students.
