Tools to Block the Babble

My Project

The classroom is a place where students should want to come and learn every day, a place where they feel comfortable and welcomed. Students should want to come to school and get excited about what they will be doing and what they will be learning!

A huge part of my job as an educator is to create an environment that is not only conducive to learning, but is calming, inviting, and safe.

Sometimes that means transforming my classroom to a specific theme that will engage my students and excite them to jump into the lesson! Other times that means creating a more chill mood and relaxed atmosphere where deeper thinking can occur without distractions. Sound plays a huge part of both transformations. With the headphones we are requesting, students would have the ability control their level of focus and distraction tolerance. Often I will play music to help with the thinking process, tailoring the genre and tempo with the activity, which many students enjoy and are motivated to work more. However, for some it is distracting or overstimulating and it makes it harder for them to focus, so the headphones would be a way for both learning types to thrive and be successful in the same setting.
