Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students will use the construction calculators to estimate building materials, calculate the sizes of rafters, and determine the total rise and run of stairs. Students will then build their 4' x 8' x 6' sheds.

This project will allow students to demonstrate their mathematical, theoretical and hands-on skills in a Career and Technical Education school.

These calculators are commonly used in the industry, so students will be caught up in the industry standards.

Our students strive in working with various hand and power tools safely. They have worked on several projects including a smart parts box and a step stool. Not only are they required to learn industry terms and safety practices, they are also tested on their ability to apply all of these skills in these projects. Students that struggle academically have been given the opportunity to strive in class that showcases their hands-on ability. Although most of these students go on to attend college, some of our students find a pathway in the building trades that will provide them with excellent careers.
