Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have the privilege of working with an incredible group of 4th–6th grade students in a Special Education Resource Specialist Program (RSP). My students are resilient, hardworking, and have unique strengths that make them truly special. They thrive in environments that support both their academic and emotional needs, and they benefit from learning experiences that are engaging, hands-on, and sensory-rich.
The liquid floor tiles in this project will provide my students with a calming and interactive sensory experience.
These tiles help students regulate their emotions, providing a soothing outlet for when they need a break or need to refocus. Combined with dual-display calculators, which will aid in math problem-solving, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) notebooks, which will help students reflect on and manage their emotions, these resources will make a big difference in their learning. The tools will support my students' ability to stay calm, focused, and engaged in both academic and social activities.
My goal is to create a classroom where my students feel comfortable, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. These resources will help students feel more in control of their learning and emotions, empowering them to take on challenges with confidence.
