This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a special education preschool class and sadly we do not always get the tools and resources we need to help them learn and succeed. Many of them have difficulty sitting on the carpet during story time and need adaptive chairs to help them focus.
We need many different types of "toys" that help my student learn and succeed.
As a toddler learning can be difficult and focusing is challenging.
During circle time, students can't always sit on the carpet and listen. Having adaptive chairs helps my students. Learning math concepts can be difficult. Having dinosaur counters that are fun and engaging helps my students sort, count, and categorize. Most of my students do not like to "read" books. Having a library that is inviting and comfortable with adaptive seating helps them stay and engage with books longer. Following oral directions and building vocabulary is challenging. Having "toys" such as fruit and vegetables a child can "cut" helps them with fine motor skills, pretend play, and following directions.
