Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These wishlist items are more than just supplies—they’re key tools in building a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. Tissues and hand sanitizer help maintain a healthy space, encouraging students to care for themselves and others, which reinforces a culture of respect and responsibility. Markers are used daily in interactive lessons, centers, and group projects, helping students express their ideas creatively while also learning to take care of shared materials. The classroom rug offers a designated gathering space that fosters community, encourages active participation during lessons, and supports smooth transitions between activities. A carpet sweeper allows students to take ownership of keeping our space clean, promoting pride in their environment and reinforcing the importance of contributing to a shared community.
This consistency supports the development of executive functioning skills like planning, responsibility, and time management.
When everything has its place, students can focus more on learning and less on distractions, which helps create a calm, predictable atmosphere. These materials work together to support routines, enhance independence, and build habits that students will carry with them beyond the classroom.
