My Students
First graders are a friendly, active group of students who come to school ready and eager to learn! They enjoy gathering as a classroom community and supporting each other in our daily learning activities. They need a safe and healthy learning environment. My students attend a Title I school, and all the students qualify to receive free lunch.
As a teacher, one of my jobs is to provide the best educational experience possible for all my students, even while maintaining social distancing.
My students come to me with a diverse assortment of skills and needs. A normal classroom environment incorporates a variety of learning strategies and tools to address each individual child. Socially distanced teaching and learning require rethinking how these needs are met. You can help make a positive difference!
My Project
Please help me create a classroom environment that is conducive to socially distant learning. My class will no longer be able to gather on the rug to learn from chart paper or an easel. We will not be able to meet in small groups at a table. Easel, shelves, and tables have all been removed from my classroom to maximize social distancing. The magnetic board in the front of our classroom will become a major teaching tool.
Large magnetic letters, numbers, and posters will allow even children from the far back of the room to more easily see and follow along with instruction; while holding up individual boards will allow me to see and identify struggling students.
My first graders will be learning reading and writing skills under exceptional circumstances. Please help them in their journey!
