My Students

My 4th grade ELA classroom is full of students who are eager to learn. A typical day in my classroom is spent teaching a lesson on the skill we are focusing on that week; working in 5 small group stations. My students love to be active and prefer hands-on learning instead of sitting in their seat with papers.

My students are creative, clever, and persistent.

Our school can be described as a fun, caring and innovative environment for students to come to daily. Our students come from a very diverse range of home structures. I am unable to control their home lives, but I can control their time spent with me during the school day. I hope to inspire learners to continue on a path success.

My Project

My 4th grade students need a few basic supplies like erasable pens, highlighters, and a pencil bag to store their writing tools. Students keep all of their paperwork in their binder to stay organized. In ELA class, we become detectives using our highlighters to find text evidence. Students work with their peers to edit and revise writing. Having erasable pens is a great tool for this task. The students also love being able to color code text evidence and their notes with colored pens. Recording their notes in different colors makes it easier for the students to study.
