Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I service a total of approximately 60-second graders who come from low-income households. My students all come from different backgrounds and carry different weights on their shoulders. Since some of my students face difficult situations at home, I try to make my classroom a fun, warm, and loving environment. Most of my students struggle decoding words and having the motivation to read. With fun, exciting, magnetic letters my students can strengthen their phonics skills which will boost their decoding and reading levels.
My Project
These materials will help my students become stronger readers. Magnetic letters will help my students with decoding words while in small groups and working independently. Students will be able to build and break apart words. This is a skill that many of my students struggle with while reading books. These letters are perfect for both hands-on learners as well as visual learners. Since the magnet letters are plastic, they are perfect to be sent home to students. These letters can be sanitized once they are returned without any damage.
