it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Rain or shine my students come to school with a smile ready to learn each day. I teach in the South Bronx, and as an educator I do my best to provide my students with a culturally relevant education that promotes critical thinking, creative, and empathic members of our society. Many of my students are English Language Learners who are eager to learn and grow through hands-on activities to build their English skills.
Kindergarten is many of my students' first experience with school.
Entering a new school can be scary especially if you do not know the language. I work to provide my students with meaningful experiences to ease their transition into a new school as well as build upon their skills to become readers, writers and mathematicians!
My Project
If you ask any of my students, they will tell you school is their favorite place to be! COVID-19 deeply affected many of my families. Your donation will help to provide a personal back to school starter kit for each of my students whether we are learning in person or remotely online.
Many of my students face obstacles such as poverty and homelessness.
The supplies will support families who may not have the means to buy school supplies this upcoming school year. Additionally, due to our new reality students will not be able to share supplies. By providing these kits it will put parents at ease knowing their child is safe while giving students an equal opportunity to have access to vital learning materials in the classroom or at home.
