Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have about 150 students. They are a driven, diverse group of learners. Many of my students face challenges both in and out of school. Our school district sees a great amount of movement due to its location in an oil producing economy. Our district includes many students of diverse backgrounds and languages including Spanish and Chin.
I am to teach my students the value of history, being a historian, and enrich their lives through historical study.
Many students need skills beyond helping them succeed academically. I want to support my students to achieve high scores in both an Advanced Placement environment.
My Project
I want to provide my students the opportunity to practice test taking skills, including writing on their multiple choice tests. Students can annotate questions by underlining and circling key vocabulary to better interpret multiple choice questions.
Gathering information and practicing reading and writing skills throughout the year helps students prepare not only for their AP test in May, but also provides skills for rigorous college courses after high school.
Students need support learning to organize and maintain a system of keeping notes and practice activities, which is supported by using notebooks in class. These notebooks help students keep all their assignments in one place and have all class materials in easy access when needing to review an entire year's content for the AP exam
