Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to do a job, but been frustrated because you didn't have the tools you needed? The job of learning requires many tools and unfortunately my students will not have access to some of the tools they need without your generosity.

I teach a very diverse group of students.

Last year, I had a group of students whose cultural roots included Mexico, Central and South America, India, the Philippines, Korea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Iran, Belgium, and various parts of the United States. Thirteen of my twenty-six students were English language learners. My students usually come from working class families who have limited resources to invest in their children's educations. Despite that challenge, my students' parents are involved in their children's educations and my students work hard and are extremely eager to learn.

My Project

The tools I am requesting will facilitate and enrich my students' learning. The biographies will provide my students with exposure to and practice with reading nonfiction literature. The partitions will allow my students privacy while taking assessments and doing independent work. The place value, coin, and regrouping charts will help my students better understand the concepts of place value, money, and multiple-digit addition. They will use the math dice to play math games that reinforce and cement concepts they learn throughout the year.

Your donations will help provide powerful and effective tools that will facilitate my students' learning.

My students will use these tools on a daily basis to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. I thank you in advance for your generosity!
