Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to do a job, but been frustrated because you didn't have the tools you needed? The job of learning requires many tools and unfortunately my students will not have access to some of the tools they need without your generosity.

I teach a very diverse group of students.

Culturally, my students have roots in Mexico, Central and South America, India, the Philippines, Korea, Egypt, Iran, Belgium and various parts of the United States. Thirteen of my twenty-four students are English language learners. Most of my students come from working class families with limited resources to invest in their education. They are hard workers and extremely eager to learn.

My Project

The digital camera will allow my students to document their learning experiences, including field trips, science experiments, and art projects. They will use the photographs they take to create PowerPoint presentations and digital portfolios. The magnetic manipulatives will assist me in helping my students build their knowledge of money, fractions, and geometric shapes. The read-along books will add life and depth to their reading experiences. Hearing a narrator read a story as they follow along in their book will provide them with a model of proper phrasing and fluid reading. It will also help them build their sight word and academic vocabularies. For those of my students who are just beginning to read, the Read Along Books will allow them to have access to higher-level texts. Last, because read-along stories include music, sound effects, and narrators who embellish their reading by using silly or dramatic sounding voices, they help build a love of reading.

Your donations will help provide powerful and effective tools that will facilitate and enrich my students' learning.

My students will use these tools on a daily basis to improve their reading, writing, math skills. I thank you in advance for your generosity!
