Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students love riding bicycles, and especially love getting off-campus to learn about efficient cycling movements and bike maintenance on-the-go. Cycling helps students build cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance – as well as bonded pro-social interpersonal relationships. We want students to feel freedom and independence – and confidence and emotional growth that come with cycling off-campus.
With these resources, our nascent student cycling team can learn to perform basic bike maintenance so we can ride safely and include everyone by nurturing bicycles to riding condition.
(When maintenance supplies are available on campus, students can service their own bicycles, and can take initiative to skill-share with one another.)
Team members will use the the 12PCS Bike Chain Tool Set to perform repairs; the Bike Repair Stand (Maintenance Rack) to hold bikes during repairs; and the 47" Security Folding Lock and retractable combo locks to secure bikes on campus.
The adjustable 3-Tier Dumbbell Rack will store the tools and parts we currently have. The Bike Flags are for adult-led group rides off-campus. The Coro Claws are for making durable bike signage on campus using accessible waterproof materials.
