My Project
Our students face challenges in self-expression and academic access that can sometimes cause them to dysregulate. As with any other great skill, it needs to be practiced. The skill of emotional regulation is related to self-expression. As our students develop in this area, these tools will bridge the gap between physical safety and calming supports.
Our students are working hard, and sometimes, hard work is frustrating.
My class will benefit from these tangible objects that support self-soothing, focus, and academic endurance. Seat cushions can allow students to demonstrate autonomy in flexible seating or invite groups to sit together in shared experiences. Weighted objects are supportive for managing the stress of stretching academics.
