Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As more special education students get the opportunity to be part of the general education experience staff have to find creative ways to support but at a distance so as not to single out the students. Understanding the functions of a scientific calculator is essential to most of the math classes. By providing each student with one that they can use throughout the school year, rather than just in class benefits their knowledge and use of ease with the calculator.
Having complete knowledge of this simple tool could incorporate independence and the ability to find a comfort level with the math they will be exposed to, even if they are performing several levels below their grade level.
I have seen how a simple tool such as the calculator can boost their confidence with the math and socially as well.
