My Project
I love the energy and excitement my students get when they are given opportunities in school that they would not be able to have at home. My students learn 21st century skills to apply to the current and future job markets.
I began my Virtual Reality course this past year with 4 Meta Quest 3 VR goggles for 30 students.
The students enjoyed working in groups and sharing their projects and progress with each other. The students went on a journey learning how to animate 3 dimensional objects, create 3 dimensional floating icons and build augmented reality worlds. They were able to use the VR goggles to enjoy the 3 dimensional simulations they created and compare/contrast them with professionally created worlds and environments.
Due to the success of this first year course, I now have 120 students enrolled for this coming year and I will have multiple sections supporting around 28 students per class. I believe with the addition of 24 more VR goggles, each student will have an the opportunity to spend more time to fully immerse themselves in their augmented reality.
This year my students enjoyed the opportunity presented with the 4 VR goggles they were able to share with limited time to be immersed. The feedback I received was it would have been better if they each had their own to spend more time to explore and learn.
I look forward to any support I can receive to increase the number of VR goggles to create opportunities for my students to soar.
