This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school with students from pre-school to sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and are mostly English Language Learners. They are an amazing and energetic group of children who are ready and eager to be lifelong learners. The school's philosophy focuses on enabling all students to make positive life choices, strengthen our community, and successfully participate in a diverse and global society.
The majority of the students who attend our school will be the first in their families to attend college.
My Project
Writing independently is a struggle for many people and it's especially harder for young writers who are also beginning readers and/or English language learners. This is why I am determined to create an inviting and purposefully designed writing center for my emerging independent writers.
Your donations will make it possible for my young writers to have the necessary tools that will allow them to stay focused and engaged on their writing pieces as they are on the path to becoming independent writers.
I will post the easy-to-reference classroom anchor charts that will serve as a scaffold/reminder about the writing steps and focus for each unit. Each student will also proudly carry his/her writing folder that will hold writing pieces, personal writing goal(s), a special writing pen and necessary reference charts (in sheet protectors).
I am eager to see the enthusiasm in their thankful faces as they are expressing themselves through writing on a variety of colored paper as well as revising/publishing with various paper strips, staplers, post-it notes and markers. With your support, this project can reach their hands! Thank you!
