My students are a robust group of avid learners. They enjoy learning and are motivated to achieve the greatness that I know they embody. This group of students love asking questions, understanding how things work, and they love the sound of the computer keys clicking away as they research things that excite them. I’d like to extend to them every opportunity to realize their dreams as the world becomes more and more digital and technology driven. However, without regular access to technology, my students are falling behind. I want to give my students the opportunity to reach their potential by being active participants in an ever-changing digital society. I want to give them a chance to be inspired; a chance to seek the answers to the questions they formulate in their brilliant minds.
My students would benefit from having Chromebooks and technology implemented into the classroom as a part of daily lessons.
With your help, we can give these students a chance to discover more, learn more, and grow more.
My Project
Each year, new groundbreaking software or websites are released. These resources offer teachers like me an opportunity to guide learners as they take more in depth looks at science, technology, math, and other critical subjects. The Chromebooks will give the students opportunities to practice math skills online with immediate feedback, have lessons tailored to their capabilities, and cover material that is limited in textbooks. Having access to more digital resource such as the Chromebook, will allow students to learn in a way that is in line with their learning styles. Within Chicago Public Schools each student is given access to Khan Academy, an online resource for all things STEM (Science, technology, engineering and Mathematics). It’s a remarkable resource, practice items, offers classes on coding, etc. In order to see the benefits of Khan Academy, access cannot be limited to once a week for 45 minutes every other week. I am in need for five Chromes books for my classroom. With the Chrome books in class I can differentiate my instruction more frequently. I will have more ability to implement small groups and target instruction with more immediate feedback for the students to continue informing my instruction. Having access to the Chromebooks will also give me more of an opportunity to allow the students to integrate more creative elements into their work and research. With your help, I can begin to transform the learning experiences of a dynamic group of students
