Help me give my students the right tools to complete their projects. By using these drills and taps, the students will learn how to drill holes and create threads in metal.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our high school is a diverse community of scholars, dedicated to STEM and Manufacturing related careers. My students are eager to learn about the manufacturing process and all it entails.
We are beginning to build a Trade Academy to serve our students and community members.
The Trade Academy will offer engineering, metalworking, welding, and robotics. We just began this school year with manufacturing classes and hope to expand into the other areas over the next few years. Additionally, we are looking to provide the local employers with a capable workforce.
My Project
These taps, drill bits, and tap handles will be used to teach my students the proper techniques in hole making operations. Projects will include several holes drilled and tapped in a bar of steel and holes drilled and tapped in a block of aluminum.
The hole making techniques taught, are crucial to students gaining the skills necessary to become excellent candidates for careers in manufacturing.
We have several projects planned that we are hoping to complete by using the taps and drill bits to teach hole making and thread production. In addition to drilling and tapping holes, the students will learn how to ream holes, add countersinks and counterbores to holes.
