This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Story Grammar Marker has been an essential part of my classroom since the beginning. It is used almost daily to help my students build their ability to retell key story elements in a sequential order. We use it during read aloud, but, it also transfers into my students’ narrative writing and independent reading comprehension too.
Due to their disabilities, my students struggle with their ability to process, organize, and produce oral language around retelling stories that are read aloud.
The Story Grammar mark has turned my students into being efficient and detailed at story retells. However, our current "Brady" has been around for my entire teaching career, over twenty years, and is needing a refresh. Helps us get a new "Brady" to ensure that many more students have the chance to grow in their ability to tell and retell stories!
