This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
27% of our students are enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement class. They work hard in these diligent courses in addition to bearing significant responsibilities at home. Furthermore, many of them are also employed and assist in paying for their families’ needs.
Our Saturday study sessions increase their academic outcomes and their chances of earning college credit.
The iPads will be a part of our door prizes that students can enter to win when they come to the Saturday sessions. These door prizes serve as incentives for students to participate in our tutorials. They also serve to validate students’ efforts and extra time preparing for AP exams. These items are simply out of reach for our students and can make a huge difference in their self perception and agency.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
