This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my second year as a first grade teacher at Empire Elementary School in Carson City, NV. We are a Title I school and have many low-income families, 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. We have a high population of English Language Learning students. My students are always eager to learn and come to school with excitement each day!
My Project
Our students are fortunate enough to each have a Chromebook. However, headphones will help students independently use many programs approved by our district. It will allow students access to technology and help them practice reading and math skills, listen to books for fluency, and record videos to build on listening and speaking skills.
My students come from different background and each learn in different ways.
They have different sensory needs they must meet before they are ready to focus and learn. My fairly new classroom is in need of fidgets, wiggle seats, chair bands, and cushions. I want my students to feel welcome and comfortable while learning.
