My students need quality tools and hardware to complete self created hands on projects.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Flynn's classroom raised $583
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Our school is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in South Queens. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Punjab, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, Polish and Arabic. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.
We are expanding our Technology Programs to include Pre-Engineering, Building Construction Technology and Farming Technology.
Students have expressed interest in learning about the above. Our school has interior and exterior space for the above programs, but we need help with resources.
My Project
My students need quality hardware and tools to work safely in their new construction technology classroom. Students will be constructing projects using reclaimed wooden pallets. Students will be deconstructing the wooden pallets and reusing the pallet wood to build new projects such as planters, tool boxes and production sets for school functions. These projects require quality, well made materials and tools that can be used safely by students and reduce the risk of being injured. Completing their projects requires physical work and student team work.
Students will learn to construct hands on projects while using these tools, hence gaining real world experience.
Students will be using hand and power tools, hardware, lumber and fasteners to create and construct in class projects.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
