This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance. Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. My students' parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have books, puzzles & other educational toys at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with a wide variety of learning tools. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantage, but not enough to provide every classroom with all the "extras" that they need. In fact due to all the budget cuts, we are running very low on essential supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and even multipurpose paper.
My Project
I am requesting 6 wireless headphones so that my kindergarten students will be better able to hear the lessons assigned to them on their chrome books. There are so many things going on in the classroom that it can get hard to hear for everyone. My students use the chrome books daily to reinforce reading and math skills, even taking reading comprehension tests. With the headphones, my students will be able to block the noise around them and better concentrate on their assignment. I am requesting these headphones to be wireless because many times the regular headphones get all tangled up and my students waste a lot of instructional minutes trying to untangle them. My kindergartners also struggle with plugging in the headphones into the chrome books. I hope that the wireless headphones eliminate instructional time lost.
Headphones will help my students focus on learning and minimize distractions.
Our room will be able to shift from noise overload to a quiet, productive buzz. Students will be able to learn instead of worry or be distracted by what everyone else in the classroom is doing.
