Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Art class should be bustling not sweltering! Our district has a large number of beautiful old buildings that lack in modern amenities! Our gorgeous brick building has air conditioning in the later addition but not in art class. Our artists will find it hard to make art in the extreme heat!
Our school is located in Urban Colorado with a population that is predominately high poverty.
We are beginning a new school in an old building. This means that from day one, students should be comfortable to perform at their best so we can set them on a path to success from the very start! Our art room has been turned into a fabulous studio setting that will inspire and motivate students to learn and get creative! This means they should be able to move about and be empowered to work independently. However, with the room reaching almost 90 degrees it will hinder students ability to focus on creating wonderful pieces of art. Instead they will be thirsty, overheated and tired due to the heat.
My Project
In order to bring our classroom to a comfortable level for students to get creative and learn we are requesting a portable air conditioner. The room currently has three fans that are tucked out of reach because they are potentially a safety hazard. The fans can be very noisy, making it hard to communicate to students and via the PA system.
Being in a comfortable environment is imperative for students to work and learn.
