My Students: Tomatoes, Tomatoes
WE need to KETCHUP! In order to teach the students of today we need to have the technology of today available!
My Students: Tomatoes, Tomatoes WE need to KETCHUP!
Our 2nd grade classroom has a dinosaur of a document camera that was “found” in the back of the high school technology closet. In order to use it we have to “BORROW” the projector from the elementary computer lab and it is rarely available! With class sizes nearing 30 students, and more and more students struggling with reading and math, our classroom would greatly benefit from an LCD projector to go with our dinosaur...
My Project
All students learn in different ways and the students who learn visually are being left behind in my building. My district recently missed out on some funding that would have allowed us to upgrade our technology, so I need to find a new way to fund my own educational upgrades.
My students crave the use of technology. They are growing up in world that is wired and interconnected. Video games and screened images are the new norm. Watching television rather than reading books is commonplace. In order to reach these students I have to compete with these images! I teach in a district that services many low-income children. These students do not have the face time with technology that most students do. Getting them used to technology while they are young will better equip them for the job market when they are older.
This LCD projector will enhance the use of the document camera. Exploring the world around us in innovative ways inspires students.
My Project: The headlines are frightening.
State budget cuts put even more strain on local budgets. This is a reality every school is facing in these dark, uncertain times. But after hearing about the many funded donor choose projects, I believe there are kind and generous people who care about our children.
It is easy for us to become discouraged and resentful, but I prefer to continue to fight for our children and their future. Please help these children, because if we don't no one else will.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
