My Project

Every student at the equity-focused school where I teach, deserves to have access to free books. These tokens will give every student access to free books through a token system.

When our students exhibit behaviors, such as being responsible, organized, accepting, and respectful (ROAR), they will be rewarded with a token that allows them to choose one book from our new book vending machine.

These tokens are the beginning phase of making sure students have a chance at getting one free book a month. According to best selling author Jim Trelease, "Every time we read to a child, we're sending a 'pleasure' message to the child's brain," (The Read Aloud Handbook). Please join me in giving our students the gift of "pleasure."
