My students are an awesome group of 3rd grade service workers. We are Team Paws! It's our goal to change the world with kindness. Even the smallest kind act can mean a lot; hold the door, smile at someone, use your manners, be humble, and be kind, always.
My students understand that what they do and say matters.
They know their actions can make a difference. As members of Team Paws, they learn we truly DO rise by lifting others. Our motto, Spread Kindness, is what makes being a part of Team Paws so special and important. Team Paws is a group of 30 little kids giving back to our community through volunteerism.
For this project, my students need t-shirts, bandanas and tie-dye materials to make tie dye gear for upcoming service trips to clean local parks in the spring.
My Project
What does it mean to serve others? Can little kids really make a difference? Yes! In the words of Helen Keller, "Alone we can do so little; Together we can do so much."
As the leader of Team Paws, I have reflected deeply this past school year about the importance of why I must teach my kids to give back to others, selflessly.
Empathy, kindness, tolerance, and patience matter now, more than ever. In that aspect, my little 3rd graders have grown so much this past school year. Back in September, they did not quite understand the impact they'd be making as the school year progressed. They did not realize that their kind acts would make a difference for so many people, some whom they'd never even meet.
To date, we have visited a home for the elderly, taken a stand to stomp out bullying, made blanket care packages for hospitalized kids, knitted hats for premature babies, and more.
For this project, I am requesting materials that will allow my kids to make tie-dye t-shirts and bandanas. The kids will wear them while we are cleaning local parks in the spring.
Cleaning local parks is one of my favorite service projects because the kids get to run and play- to be kids, all while giving back to our community through service to others. Not only does this trip get their bodies moving and hearts pumping, but it's a lot of fun, too.
The kids will look like a true team while sporting their tie dye gear during these park cleanups. It’s truly inspiring to see kids working together in this way, asking for nothing in return.
Thank you for your kind consideration to assist me in growing a generation of kids who care about giving back through service.
