Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is in a community of immigrants and many recent immigrants. most of my students have contact with or know of recent immigrants. Although this is well known in the community there is still a disconnect that is visible in the school environment from the students who were born here than from the recent immigrants. We have created a project across the curriculum in which students will be grouped in a way in which at least one of the group members is a recent immigrant. They will learn about each other's way of life and the struggles they have endured. We are doing all this in an effort to build community.

This is our goal. We are asking for Starbucks, Chili's, Panera, and Happy Food and Laughs gift cards. In the end, students will be presenting what they learned from each other. The best presentations will win gift cards. We have picked places in which one can come together and have a coffee drink or share a meal.
