Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 32 fifth-grade students come from the low-income housing that surrounds our south side Chicago school. We are a true neighborhood small school. Our families are humble but want the best for their kids.

These great bunch of kids need your support in obtaining subscriptions of TIME for Kids that they will read in our classroom.

My students were with me last year in fourth grade and will be following me into fifth grade in the next month. I'm excited because I already know what they need. This year we're going to have a Popcorn Theme. I'm excited to share our pictures of our learning.

My Project

My students already ask questions about their school, their community, and now I want them to explore the world. I know TIME for Kids is a great resource for my students to help them learn about current events.

We often do not have the technology available to explore our questions so it would be great to have TIME for Kids.

I know I loved TIME magazine as a young adult and it helped to shape my learning so I know it will open up our world to my students. They will be able to read, discuss in our small groups, and use the materials to integrate them into their learning projects.
