This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 16 pretty amazing first graders. They are all unique in their own way. Each of them are growing in reading capabilities and showing progress in their reading abilities. I am in need of decodable books that will help my students build the skills they need to read independently and the decodable books will help them build on those skills to grow into successful readers.
My focus is on increasing my students reading levels.
I have several students that are struggling in their reading. I believe the decodable books will help support instruction during my guided reading. These books are important in phonics instruction and building confidence in my students. Decodable books will provide my students with the opportunity to use their developing segmenting and blending skills so that they can read words so that they can develop automaticity, or the ability to recognize words quickly and effortlessly, and experience independent reading success.
