This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are special because they love to read and like to share with other students what they are reading. This motivates and encourages other students to want to read the books.
The students read everyday!
They self-select their books and get independent reading time in class. Their goal is to read 20 chapter books this school year.
We then connect what we are learning in ELA to the books they are reading. Since everyone is reading something different then the students learn to analyze and think critically on their own.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
