Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in kindergarten-6th grade.
They have disabilities including, but not limited to autism, specific learning disabilities in both auditory and visual processing delays, developmental delays, ADHD, speech and language impairments, among other disabilities.
Our school is located in a rough area of South Los Angeles, where the majority of students come from very low-income households.
My Project
I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade for the past sixteen years therefore my classroom library is well equipped with an abundance of lower leveled reading books.
I have recently moved from the 1st/k special day classroom to the Resource Specialist Program which services a span of children from kindergarten to 6th grade.
With the newly added grades, I need to update my classroom library with age and grade level appropriate titles for upper grade students.
I'm requesting help in growing my library with a variety of titles that will appeal to older children, books that will keep them engaged and help grow their love for reading.
I am requesting more than one copy of certain titles so that we can read together in small groups.
Thank you for taking the time to read our classroom project and your consideration in helping our classroom library grow!
