This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a proud School District of Philadelphia educator! My third grade students primarily live in the North Philadelphia area. They are a lively bunch and are curious about the world around them.
Many students in my classroom do not have access to engaging, relevant reading materials .
Reading is the primary way to expand students' knowledge and cultivate their love for learning. This is especially true for the English Language Learners and those in special education.
My Project
During the 2020-2021 academic year, my elementary class, like so many other elementary classes across the country, was primarily virtual. Fortunately, students had the ability to come back into the classroom during the final months of the school year; however, only a handful chose this option, which was the norm in my school. I am eagerly anticipating all students' arrival in the classroom, full-time, this coming school year.
Many of my students have experienced so much screen-time over the past year and a half, and it would be fantastic to be able to get printed materials into their hands!
Scholastic Storyworks 3 is the perfect subscription containing interesting passages and interactive activities. It also differentiates and personalizes the materials so each reader is engaged.
